DIIV | How Long Have You Know

DIIV (formerly named DIVE) is a side project lead by of Beach Fossil’s - Zachary Cole Smith. The sound really is almost like Beach Fossils with a zing of shoegaze feel. Honestly, the cultivation of it all makes a perfect combination. Don’t get me wrong, Beach Fossil’s still exist (from what I know) and they’re great. The name change was influenced by the Nirvana song and Zach says 

“A name is nothing. I don’t really give a fuck what the band is called. I originated this project in a bedroom with no internet and didn’t know it would ever leave.”

Honestly, that’s one of the best reasons people like Zach create such gems out of the blue sitting and being cooped up in their room. Hidden talent at it’s finest, really. I saw DIVE the other day opening up for Frankie Rose and damn, they were great live. It was fun, energetic, and sweaty as fuck. Of course the venue was crammed like sardines but so worth the view and sound of DIVE. Regardless of their name change (DIIV), hear the new sounds because this is a first taste of their new album “Oshin”.
